MY ROLE

As a senior UX designer, I facilitated the work between stakeholders and vendors, collaborating with a team of illustrators, visual designers, and developers to deliver a ROKU OS experience. I co-created and validated a prototype of the guided setup (web, TV email) and a management portal (web)

THE OPPORTUNITY

With the popularity of streaming devices growing, Telstra decided to bring to the market a new product: Telstra TV. Telstra learned from their last streaming box endeavor that the main issues with the customers were:

1) Forgotten ID/password

2) Refunds

3) Unexpected charges

4) Bug reporting.

The goal of this project was to deliver a customized Roku OS experience to Telstra customers.

THE SOLUTION

We looked initially to the target audience and came up two main personas: Colin, who thinks of the bill as “the bundle,” and Daniel, who downloads illegally to save money. We created a storyboard on how customers would purchase, install, and use the device. With our designs, we aim to

1) increase awareness of the value that the device offers,

2) reduce the number of unnecessary steps,

3) increase the chances of remembering the correct username, and

4) reduce the use of the onscreen keyboard.

Discovery

When I first started working with Urban, there was one service available to book: massages. As of now, there are more than a hundred different types of bookings you can create, hence tackling the discoverability was an important challenge. To achieve that, we conducted researches with hundreds of people to understand what they need to know instantly, and we made sure they could get it without any effort or giving too much thinking.
